This evening at 5pm. we will be discussing lesser known red wine varieties, not the almost mainstream Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Malbecs, or the rarer ones like Vespolino.
There is more than a dozen red varieties that fall into the category of having less than 50 producers in Australia
Older Rhone varieties such as Carignan and Cinsaut
Others that haven’t quite taken off Alicante Bouschet, and Chambourcin, Dolcetto
Two from France, Tannat and Gamay
Some of the more recently arrived Italian varieties Aglianico, Sagrantino and Lagrein
Left of centre Saperavi
New arrivals such as Mencia.
