New varieties gaining popularity in South Aust to augment Shiraz and getting some praise are Montepulciano and Negroamaro. I have my own thoughts about their relative merits but I am interested in the experiences of subscribers. Tell us what you think.
Montie is big and robust styles more like our Shiraz. Negroamaro is a bit more versatile, better for lighter styles.
