I am still working on my book Beyond Shiraz. It is taking much, much longer than I thought. I have narrowed my focus down to just 192 varieties which I think covers nearly all of the grape varieties used in Australia. That’s what I hope, at least. Realistically, I know there are more. So I thought I would share my list with my knowledgeable readers.
Here’s my draft of the front cover:
At first I thought I had 201 or 202 varieties, but when I pruned out a bit of dead wood and duplicates I found I was a bit short. Does 191 sound a bit sexier than 200? Maybe I can stick to claiming 200 and not number them, however there is sure to be a pedant somewhere who would count them.
Can You help?
Yes, you can.
Run your eye over the list below and then message me with the glaring obvious omissions I have made. Or perhaps you have inside info about a new variety.

Have You Tried an Aussie Sangiovese lately?
Wine Selectors have a very interesting offer of two bottles from each of six different makers, including Coriole who were among the pioneers in Australia1.
